I’ve spent two weekends in Paris – once in 2007 and once in 2008. It’s a gorgeous city – the Latin Quarter and the catacombs are two of my favorite places. But I also really love the Eiffel Tower. Shocker!
Telling you that you have to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower when you visit Paris is like me telling you that you have to go to the top of the Empire State Building if you visit New York City. It’s unnecessary because you were going to do it regardless! But I feel the need to say it anyway because I really love going to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I love the view and the feeling of being thousands of feet above an epic city.
I paid admission twice to go up to the very top (there are several different viewing levels) and I would do it again, too. I wish I had better photos but when I was there it was 10 years ago and I had a 10 year old point-and-shoot (and no camera phone!), so alas, these will have to do.
Ironically, I’ve only visited the top of the Empire State Building once, when I was 7. Maybe it’s time for a repeat visit? Perhaps.

A very crooked photo of the view at night. SWOON.
