That Girl Away

Is there a city that you went to when you were young, or younger, that you remember liking but you also don’t really remember specifics? That’s how I’ve been feeling about Prague lately.

In 2008, on the tour with Contiki, I spent 3 days and 2 nights in Prague and I don’t remember much. I’m going to blame the absinthe for that. I remember we saw the John Lennon Peace Wall, and my photos tell me we saw all the famous statues, the astronomical clock, the palace, the view from the hill where the Church of St. Ludmila is, but I don’t remember much else.

What I would like to go back and explore is their Jewish Quarter. I don’t remember going to see this part of the city and it sounds super interesting. I want to learn more about the 1945 Prague Uprising and what went down in Prague during the Holocaust.

I’d also like to go visit the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror, the Museum of Senses, the Apple Museum Prague, the Jewish Museum, the KGB Museum (since I went to the one in Tallinn and all), and probably a few of the palaces, too.

I was trying to think of the best way to get there again, ie. what other cities could I pair it with. I looked at a map and picked up Zagreb (Croatia), Ljubljana (Slovenia), and then I could fly up to Prague. That sounds like an expensive flight, if I do say so myself.

What’s a city that you went to once but feel like you need to visit again? Let me know in the comments!
