One year ago today I was driving back and forth to the Dead Sea with Nick and our friend Kate. My time in Israel was down to one-day-left and I was running around Tel Aviv trying to see everything I could before I flew home. In honor of that, I thought I'd post a little round-up of blog posts that I wrote about Israel, in case you have a trip coming up! Looking Backing: A Solo Traveler’s Experience on Birthright in Israel
The Truth About My Birthright Experience
All of us in the Golan Heights, February 2019 I’d been home from Birthright for a week when I started writing this. I hadn't really had a chance to process it yet. I’ve been jet lagged, back at work, and catching up with a few friends so really reflecting on this whole experience took a bit of a back seat. I know it sounds cliche but I really don’t know if I’ll ever have words that fully described my 8 day adventure in Israel. * I feel really, really (like REALLY) lucky with the group ... VIEW POST
The Craziest Thing I Did In Israel (on Birthright)
On our second day in Israel we hopped on the bus at the unseemly hour of 8am and drove up to Mount Arbel in the Lower Galilee near the city of Tiberius. We were told, sort of (because information about what we were actually going to be doing on any given day was always less specific than we would've preferred), that we'd be going on a hike, but not a really a hike, and don't worry, it was okay if you were not a hiker because it wouldn't be hard. Cool, I thought. I guess I'll wear ... VIEW POST
A Small Change in Plans For Birthright
When I signed up for Birthright, I had assumed it was 10 days IN Israel. Did I look very closely at the itinerary for 2 seconds? I'll give you two guesses, but you should only need one. No, I didn't. I had thrown all caution to the window and assumed that I'd be gone for ten days, took the days off from work, and only realized when looking at my return flight time and date that I'd only be there for 8 days. WELL. That just won't do. I called the travel agency and hoped I could still extend ... VIEW POST
Three Things I’m Nervous For On Birthright
On a tour of the fjords in September 2015 in Norway. Happy Weekend! It's one week (+ one day) before I leave on a ten day trip to Israel - the homeland! - for Birthright. I'm sneaking in just before I age out of the newly expanded age range. Two months before I age out, to be exact - but who's counting? I haven't traveled with a group, or a tour guide (or another person for that matter) since I was 22 and newly graduated from college. I had never traveled by myself before - I was met at ... My Fellow Jewish Travelers: The Age Limit For Birthright Has Been Extended!
If you're Jewish, you've probably heard of Birthright Israel. If you haven't, it's a FREE TRIP to Israel. I'd never looked into it because I'm not particularly religious, but a friend of mine informed me today that Birthright has raised their age limit to 32 and since I am 32 for another 7 or so months, I'm hopping right on that train. Honestly, despite being Jew-ish, Israel isn't high on my must-travel-to list. It's hot there, I think they do a ton of stuff outdoors, and I can get pretty ... VIEW POST
