Happy New Year!
I hope you had a restful New Year. I went to a friends’ party and then my partner and I watched the ball drop on CNN back at my apartment. (Pro tip: If you find yourself in New York City on New Year’s Eve, do not – I repeat, do NOT – go to Times Square. You’re welcome.)
I was looking at my Google Analytics recently and I was really surprised about what my top posts of the year were so I wanted to share them here. I’m also still just acclimating back to real life after having two weeks out of the office (#blessed) so please bear with me while I work on creating new content.
DRUM ROLL, PLEASE…
- What I Ate At Hattie B’s As a Vegetarian: You guys LOVE this post. Or at least people searching on Google do. As more and more of the population (hopefully) stops eating meat, I guess people are doing more research on what there is to eat in places that are usually challenging for vegetarians. Given that Hattie B’s is one of the famous hot chicken restaurants in Nashville, I suspect that a lot of vegetarians are being dragged there and are curious about what’s on the menu that they can eat. I’m honored to be a resource! (Click here if you need some tips about how to find places to eat if you’re vegetarian!)
- Labirintus aka The Labyrinth of Buda Castle: Again, really, out of everything I wrote about in Budapest, this is the most popular post?! Seems like I need to visit more labyrinths and dark, shadowy caves and stuff while I travel. Alternatively, people might just really like Dracula.
- A Day Trip to Cambridge, MA: Another post from 2018! Has Cambridge been reaching the top of some Must Travel To lists? It’s a cute little town next to Boston, sure, but I don’t see it as a place on anyone’s Must Travel To list. Maybe it’s a place people are passing through a lot recently.
- The Mermaids of Copenhagen and Warsaw: I love these tales so much. I’ve talked about the embarrassing, but true, fact on here before that I definitely traveled to Copenhagen mainly to see the Little Mermaid statue. It’s 100% and I won’t apologize for it. But before traveling to Warsaw in 2016, I had no idea that they also had mermaid mythology in their city and that in fact, the two mermaids were, some said, sisters! I have statues of both of these mermaids on my shelves and I love them dearly. They’re the only souvenirs I have from these cities and I wouldn’t have it any other way. (Have I ever mentioned that my name was almost Ariel? Yup, true story.)
- The Anniversary of the Worst Vacation Ever: I wrote a blog post about the worst vacation I ever took that left me in a coma with a traumatic brain injury and six months of recovery. I also happened to be 11 years old at the time and across the country without my parents.
Honorable Mention:
The Hype is Real: My Experience at the Blue Lagoon in Iceland: I loved, loved, loved the Blue Lagoon. I spent probably $200 for a 4 or 5 hour morning there and it was worth every penny. I’d highly recommend going straight after arriving and definitely splurge for the in-water massage. I’d splurge for an entire hour massage next time.
That is my year in popular blog posts. I hope to keep growing this platform and connecting with you guys and inspiring you to travel solo, even if you’re a woman. If there’s any content you’d like to see in 2020 in particular, let me know!
Where’d you travel to in 2019 and where are you going in 2020? I’d love to know! Happy 2020!
