This is the story of the worst vacation ever. Today is also the anniversary of the last day of that vacation. Every summer from the time I was seven years old until I was eleven years old, my best friend Amy would fly from California to my family’s house on Long Island for two weeks. You see, our parents were best friends since before I was born and Amy and her family were in the waiting room when I was born. From that moment on, Amy and I were inseparable (except of course when we were ... VIEW POST
The Anniversary of the Worst Vacation Ever
The Story of the Sea Lions at Pier 39 (San Francisco, CA)
When I was scrolling through my photos from my trip to San Francisco in 2009 recently, I saw my photos of all the seals at Pier 39 and thought, "AWWWW. SO CUTE." And then my mind switched to, "But why are they all there?" There is a high probability that everyone on the planet who knows of these adorable mammals already knows the answer to this, but in case you didn't, here you go: The sea lions first started arriving at K-Dock in San Francisco in October 1989 after the Loma Prieta ... A Stroll Down Haight-Ashbury (San Francisco, CA)
When I was in high school I was obsessed with the musical HAIR. HAIR is about a group of hippies in New York City in the 1960's during the surge of anti-Vietnam War protests. It was insanely popular when it was on Broadway in 1970 and it's still popular today. Three thousand miles from New York City, the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood is credited with being the birthplace of the hippie counter culture that I found myself loving so much. I read a lot about this little area in San Francisco after ... VIEW POST
Visit The Full House Exterior at 1709 Broderick Street
I wanted to tell you how to visit the Full House exterior as I did back in 2009 because as a 90's kid, how can you go to San Francisco and NOT visit it? It's just so iconic. I grew up as an avid fan of the family-friendly and super cheesy show Full House. Some might even tell you that I have all 7 seasons on DVD. I'll never confirm, not deny that, so don't ask (fine, I DO). Fun fact: Jeff Franklin, the show's creator, purchased the house back in 2016 and painted the front door red again. So ... VIEW POST
The Ultimate San Francisco Bar Crawl
When I was in San Francisco in 2009, I met up with a couple of friends one night and we went on what turned out to be basically a self-guided bar crawl (with lots of dive bars, like any good bar crawl) and I thought I'd share the names of the bars here in case you're in San Francisco soon. The Attic Club: This spot has since closed, but it was the first stop of the night. I don't remember much about it but it was VERY divey as you can see in the photos on Yelp. Tunnel Top: I remember this ... VIEW POST
What’s So Special About Lombard Street (San Francisco, CA)
This long and winding road, Lombard Street between Jones and Hyde Streets in San Francisco, is famous for being the most crooked street in the city. When I was there in 2009, I stopped by to see the famous street. It lived up to expectations and looked really daunting to try to drive down. It is not a street I'd ever want to live on in a city where you benefit from owning a car. Lombard Street was specifically designed in such a way for safety. Lombard Street is on an extremely steep hill ... VIEW POST
