Part of why I love to travel is because I love learning about different cities and cultures, but I also love learning about the people who lived in those cities. For me, this would include visiting Graceland: the home of Elvis Presley. I realized after I saw Zombieland Doubletap last weekend that I never wrote about my experience at the King's mansion while I was in Memphis in April. Why would a horror-comedy remind me of Graceland, you ask? They travel there in the movie, only to find it ... VIEW POST

My Visit to the National Civil Rights Museum (Memphis, TN)
When I made plans to go to Tennessee in April, I knew I'd be going to the National Civil Rights Museum for sure. I don't know how you can visit Memphis in today's day and age and NOT visit the National Civil Rights Museum. Not with this political environment (if you're on the right side, and yes, there is a clear right side to be on nowadays). On my first day in Memphis, I took a long walk down Main Street, which my hotel was directly off of, which turns into South Main Street somewhere right ... VIEW POST
A Stroll Down the South Main Mosaic ArtWalk (Memphis, TN)
On my second day in Memphis, I woke up bright and early to head down to the Civil Rights Museum on Main Street. My hotel was also located on Main Street but at the totally opposite end, so I had a nice long walk ahead of me in the temperate weather with an iced coffee (or two). After I got past the part of Main Street that was filled with tacky tourist shops, I noticed a sign for the South Main Mosaic Artwalk. I'd read about this online, so I took a picture of the sign and kept on ... VIEW POST
What You Should Know Before You Go To Tennessee
A pricey almond milk mocha from Bongo Coffee in 12 South. I spent last week in Memphis and Nashville. Well, almost a week. I knew after going to Denver for four days last fall that although I really enjoyed going to Denver, there wasn’t enough there for me to do to stay FOUR DAYS. After researching what I wanted to see in each city, I decided 2.5 days in each would be more than enough. Unrelated: If you ever have the opportunity to go to Memphis OR Nashville, I’d strongly suggest you go to ... VIEW POST
What I’m Excited to See in Tennessee!
The last week has been a little crazy for me. I found out last Friday that my role was completely terminated at my job and I was shocked. I'd been told numerous times that I "kept the lights on" at the company, so I didn't see it coming. But it's a blessing in disguise, I think. So, I've been busy applying for jobs, wrapping up stuff at the office, and meeting with recruiters. BUT a couple of weeks ago I'd booked a flight to Memphis and Nashville and I'm leaving in a little over a week and ... VIEW POST
